Position Title: Sr. Consultant, Microsoft Database Architect
Location: Boston

Your duties will include interacting with user, business and executive groups to help define the client's needs and translating those needs into a solution of value. General Experience:
- Microsoft Centric Projects - 4+ years
- Overall development experience - 6+ years
- Prior consulting / contracting experience
Specific Experience:
- Database design and stored procedure development experience with Microsoft SQL Server (5+ years)
- Direct project exposure to SQL 2005 and/or 2008; understanding of new capabilities especially with regards to .NET CLR, replication, reporting, ad-hoc query, and OLAP.
- Experience with desktop and server reporting tools (SQL Server Reporting Services strongly preferred; Crystal Reports)
- Experience designing data marts and analytics solutions (SQL Server Analysis Services strongly preferred)
- Experience with one or more database modeling tools (Visual Studio, Erwin, Visio, Embarcadero, etc.)
- Experience writing both simple and complex SQL Server Integration Services packages
- Experience defining and documenting database best practices
- Experience defining and documenting database performance and load testing best practices
- Solid oral and written communications skills
- Solid planning and organization skills
Additional experience desired:
- Familiarity with Microsoft's Performance Point Server
- Experience building reporting dashboards and integrating reports with SharePoint
- Oracle (v8 and higher) and mySQL database design and development experience
- Experience with MSFT Office BI products (e.g. Excel Pivot Table)
- .NET development experience, exposure to ADO.NET and Web Services
- Experience with delivering reports using SQL Notification Services
Some Duties as a SQL Server Database Architect
Responsible for:
- Familiarity with Microsoft's Performance Point Server
- Requirements Review
- Database design and modeling (logical and physical)
- Stored procedure development and tuning
- Database performance tuning
- Data dictionary definition
- OLAP cube analysis and design
- Report creation
- Database replication
- Defining and documenting database best practices
- Defining and documenting database performance and load testing best practices
Certifications:
One or more of the following:
- MCP
- MCTS on SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2005
- MCITP on SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2005
Soft Skills:
- Diplomatic (all great consultants display this trait)
- Technically adept (you have current skills and are able to deploy them across a variety of projects and solutions)
- Communication (you can converse with customer and team members of all levels)
- Committed (to your customer, your team and your project)
